NATIONAL PHYSICAL PLANNING COUNCIL (NPPC)
Introduction
NPPC was established in 2003 under subsection 2A (1) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172). NPPC is the Supreme Council who responsible for urban and rural planning in Peninsular Malaysia. NPPC was created to coordinate all policies and activities related to urban and rural planning for ensure a more balanced and sustainable use of resources and development at the state and country levels. The function of the Council are as follows:
- To promote in the country, within the framework of the national policy, town and country planning as an effective and efficient instrument for the improvement of the physical environment and towards the achievement of sustainable development in the country;
- To advise the Federal Government or the Government of any State, on matters relating to the town and country planning required under this Act; and
- To perform any other functions conferred upon the Council under this Act
