Introduction

Planning guidelines is a written statement which acts as reference for development approval by local planning authorities in controlling land use to achieve uniformity, complacency and safe execution for land use activities. For any development proposal should adhere to the guidelines that have been set.
 
What are the benefits of Planning Guidelines? And when it is been used?
Plans and development that are executed are for the benefits of public. Therefore the public can make suggestion to the State Authority and PBPT with regards to issues that are against planning principles.
 
Importance of Planning Guidelines
Should there be no guidelines and control towards urban development, more serious problems will occur, resulting in the emergence of squatters and slums exist.
 
Benefits of Planning Guidelines and Standards
  • Standardised and effective planning process in the preparation of a layout plan, building design as well as basic utilities and public amenities.
  • Avoid conflict of land use or buildings through the use of population and building intensity.
  • Able to create comfortable and live able environment.
 
Planning Guidelines Status (Reviewed)
A total of 41 Planning Guidelines were published by the Research and Development Division (R&D) since 1997 to 2005. In 2008, a study was carried out to review the Planning Guidelines with the intention to improve on the contents and reformatting for an easy reference.
